Tens of thousands?? This is posted under technical diving. I really doubt there are more than 1500 or so active technical instructors worldwide at any one time (from all agencies combined).

And maybe 10 tech divers have responded to this thread, so....

I agree its probably statistically useless like all SB polls. I don't agree that any one agency is over represented since several of the "DIR" respondents are predominantly trained outside of GUE.

78 non
39 DIR (27%)
28 other
= 145 poll respondents

true, I wish it were public so I can see who's voted and how I know them (if at all)...

Its not really part of recreational dive planning. The principles are there, but its called ratio deco for a reason :)

Not to sidetrack but I got a PM explaining just that. A little confusing as GUE-F teaches not to use computers so I was thinking they must use RD for the basic dives? Anyway thanks to all for the info. I'll let the thread get back ontrack...........................

This thread steered off track pages ago!

Nope. DIRF does not teach much of anything on deco, computers, or tables. Mine didn't at least - maybe the new longer curriculum does.

RD does not = DIR
DIR does not = RD

Ours talked about minimum deco, lipid solubility, dissolved gas model vs. bubble model, but nothing that in depth.

It would be interesting to know how many technical instructors there are worldwide.

To another point, there are still a lot of divers who think DIR = Technical diving.
