Just looking for some input from anyone who has used either or both systems. Thinking of starting with the transpac and adding on nomad wing and buttplate for sidemount any input or discussion would be helpful, thanks

I have a Nomad and a Fauxmad.

I don't see any significant difference in starting with a Transpac and ending up with a modular version of the Nomad (as opposed to the one piece EXP).

For that matter I made a Fauxmad starting with an Oxycheq travel plate and a Rec wing and some spare hardware and webbing to make the harness.

the transpac rig looks a little more beefy and solid to me with the padded waist band. Not sure if you can remove the buttplate and wing on the nomad but it doesn't seem have the mod options i would have with the transpac, guess im wondering if theres any real benefit to going with the nomad EXP

Confusion is beginning to creep in here. Lets clarify things...

The EXP is less expensive but it is also one piece so you lose the modular options (tech plate versus Nomad plate, etc) so I'd skip it and go with the Nomad XT.

The XT starts as a standard Transpac harness and adds the wing and buttplate, so discussing the pros and cons of Transpac versus Nomad is a little pointless.

If you already have a Transpac, then just get the butt plate and the Nomad wing. If not, just get the Nomad XT as it is probably cheaper that way.

Personally, I did not like the bulk of the shoulder pads and back pad on the Nomad so I removed them. It makes it a lot cleaner and less bulky.

The EXP is one piece, and the XT is modular and is based off of the Transpac. I have the XT and I can take it all apart down to just the Transpac. I was considering to build one off of my backplate setup, but it just wasn't going to be cost effective.

Sewing unless you have dissimilar flimsy material and incorrect thread tension is easy.
Having access to an industrial machine with a walking foot helps.

Many moons ago I sewed a complete Fauxpac 1 from black of course new sports bags from the cheap shop because it was much cheaper than buying one million denier rocket launcher proof raw fabric. It had no badges.

A wetsuit manufacturer mate of mine made also another outer sac from neoprene so compact with no bungee.

People even Transpac owners had their BS meters running overtime except of course the Transpac owner I borrowed from to make the pattern.

Very good.
