I'm told that they're sucking sand out of the channel to put on the beaches. If so, my prediction is that diving the jetties on a high tide the viz should be ok. Big question is how close the equipment will be.

We have a few boat dives planned on the Strength, Bart, and a few bridge spans in early July.
Has the dredging ever effected the offshore dives?

It shouldn't. The Loss Pontoon may suffer, as it's not that far from the pass & viz there is iffy in any case. Even that should be divable on an incoming tide, but outgoing or around the low tide slack it may not be good.

Every where else shouldn't be impacted.

The strength, black bart & spans 14 & 12 are the closest inshore sites past the loss pontoon. so the charters hit them a lot.

The strength in particular seems to often have the worst viz of them. A new wreck near her is the red sea, she's been down long enough to have a lot of life now. I've only dove her a couple of times & both times viz wasn't real good. Good enough to dive but not great.

the further east or west of the pass you get, the less the viz is impacted by what happens in the bay or channel.

Good to know... we were looking at the Red Sea as well...
What would be your suggestions for the best viz dives in early July... I'm spoiled by the Keys... hate diving in murk...

no way to tell this far out. I've seen it be incredible & I've seen it be 5'

all comes down to what sort of weather we get. if inshore is crappy, you can sometimes get better by going farther out. Stage 1, the Ackokee, the deep spans. We'll know more as we go.

Biggest factor is storms stirring things up.

Yeah... like Georgia weather... you don't like it, hold your breath -- it'll change...
