any experience with OSTC? heinrichsweikamp
English version of that page: heinrichsweikamp

Looks pretty decent. I like the QI wireless charging, but still think I'd prefer the ostc3's replaceable AA battery.

Their only US re-seller doesn't have the dive computers listed on their website :(

Yeah, but for a 300' OC dive, if you were trying to optimize your deco, 5 gas switches wouldn't be outrageous (bottom mix, 190' gas, 120' gas, 70' gas, and oxygen).

Why on earth would anyone want to do a 300' dive on OC? That is sooooo 2000's.

edit-as per the OP, using Shearwaters. Always have been and still are the best .

I have not had any issues in low vis or low light with any of my petals or predators they are always easy to read.

Shearwater Petrel user here. Very happy and looking to get the newer Perdix as well. Hard to beat the quality of construction, the user interface, and the customer service.

Petrel user, with a Nitek Q as a backup, no complaint so far. Both are very easy to read even in murky water or while cave diving.

Shearwater, hands down. Still have the first petrel I bought before everyone and their brother had one, and I'm on my third CCR with a predator or petrel. Never had a problem with reading any of them in low vis.

Edited to add additional thoughts/advantages:
- I'm a fairly regular cave diver who is not particularly gentle on my gear
- 5 gases was enough for 300' OC and CC dives
- ability to change high GF on the fly towards the end of a long hang is nice

I've only used my Perdix for a dozen dives, but have found it easy to use and customize. The smaller screen on the watch-sized Seabear is a bit small for my old, tired eyes. I really like the convenience of using a simple AA battery, and the ability to upload/download wirelessly (with BlueTooth) is great.

I believe the main (only?) thing missing from the Perdix compared with the Petrel 2 is the ability to display gas analyses directly from a rebreather.

Had an X1 a couple years ago and loved it, never any problems. Bought a Petrel to backup the X1. Did 2 dives with them, sold the X1 and got a 2nd Petrel. I've had to deal with SW customer service, the best!!

I had an X-1 on my Meg. When I got rid of it, I bought a Predator, which I later sold and bought a Perdix.
I have been very happy with Shearwater.

I recently bought my Predator back from the guy I sold it to. I like the OLED screen.
