Anybody know what happened to njscuba.com? No matter what computer I go on it says cant find site.

I just found it, njscuba.net,as usual. It is one of my favorite sites. ;)

my complaint abou NJScuba.net is their broswer compatibility

for some reason they don't want to support browsers that are anything except the latest revision.

you get
This web browser is incapable of displaying all the features and functionality of the website.
I suggest the latest version of Firefox, Opera, or Internet Explorer.

I mean why should I have to go change browser versions just to view their site? poor web management of their server or host file.

So you DO get all the features and functions of the website. Come on now, all it costs is a bit of your time to be up-to-date.

Actually I'm not opposed to updating.... even though I don't like the newer browser version

However, at work, we can't install software on our machine without Legal and IT approval and they haven't gone through yet and done a "sweep" install of all systems yet to get them all to the same version. So I can't install it.

I still think that if you want people to view your website, which is the reason any group/ company/business has one out there is for it to be viewed, then it need to be compatiable with the most common browsers that are currently in use. I would say that over 50% of the people out there aren't using the most current version as not everyone is jumping on the Windows Vista bandwagon.

I mean what if Scubaboard had the attitude that they were only going to support X version of a certain browser. People wouldn't log on. Their number of hits would dramatically drop. That means there AD's servered would drop, which means revenue drops. Scubaboard doesn't do this because they want to maximize every hit they can get for AD revenue. Just like any other business website does. I mean would ScubaToys do something this stupid? No... they would loose sales because customers couldn't get on their website to "add to cart" and buy.

I can only speak for myself, but I will not update my system just so I can view a single web page. There is nothing on there that is not available elsewhere and if there is, I will not miss it. I agree with Mike that a better web presence stand point and direction for the company would be to make the site accessible by the masses and not the select few that are up to date. If it happens that my browser is up to date and I can view it, then great....otherwise I move on. This is just my view on the internet though.

But in the end, it is their business to run as they see fit. If their website is not accessible to all, then so be it.

good point.... I doubt others will also.

Rich doesnt run his website for ads or money......it is run based on what he uses and he simply shares all his information with anyone who chooses to view it. If you have ever been diving with him you would see his enthusiasm for the sport and his site, it reflects him.

I actually think their website has some very usefull info on it. I don't know the author but I've referenced his site to others before on items. sometimes even on here.

but it's hard to reference something now that you can't see, or that others can't see.

I still think he had usefull info on his site though.

This is actually a very healthy way to run a website in my opinion. He has what HE wants up there and if someone else can enjoy it, then great.

The only propblem is that he is isolating and minimizing his oppotunities and possibly losing out on many. Again though, that falls into what I said....his business....his decisions. I respect his decision. FYI, I checked on the first page only and could see it.
