Need to be in L.A. on Monday for a meeting so thinking I'd head out Friday night and do some diving.

Nothing specific planned location-wise, have an e-mail in to a few ops to see what's going on. Hoping to get in touch with Sundiver and get on both Saturday and Sunday trips so that I can crash on the boat overnight. Would prefer to stay relatively local to L.A. - something out of San Pedro, Long Beach, Redondo, etc.

Sand Dollar is another option at least for Sunday, as they are heading out to Santa Barbara.

Anyone know of any other boats with bunks that I might be able to hitch a ride with?

Worse case scenario I could nab a hotel, but thinking a "stayaboard" would reduce logistical hassles.

Ideally I could get hooked up with a boat/shop/group is is "definately" going out as I would hate to fly 3,000 to find out that "the captain had a rough night, so we're not going out" or some other excuse.

Please PM or e-mail with any leads or contacts!

Thanks in advance - Ray

travelmadness:
there is an open boat on saturday outta redondo: http://pacificstardiving.com/jan.html

I'd love to go out with them, but the don't seem to answer email or return phone calls. Do you know anyone there or have perhaps a better email address or phone number than the one on the website?

Sand Dollar is going to Santa Barbara Island on Sunday. The captain is very set in going to the island. If you don't get on a boat, I'll go beach diving with you.

Yup - got on the Sand Dollar for Sunday so I'm squared away for at least one day of diving!

I apppreciate the offer to shore dive, but I think if I can't track down a boat it's a sign from the Scuba Gods that my wife is right and that "one day of diving is enough" this weekend!

:-)

RJP:
And now secured a spot on Raptor for Saturdy - the Scuba Gods have smiled down upon me!

Any one wanna join me for either/or trip shoot me a PM or an email.
Indeed they have! You should have a great time!

Be sure to say, "Hello" to our buddy Rickster for us on the Raptor.

Yes - met Rickster today, as well as Captain Kyle.

All I can say about the Raptor is "What a Great Boat"!

Three nice dives, met some nice people, had a great time. If you're worried that it's not worth the drive up to Ventura, forget about it! I will come back to the Raptor time and time again. Truly sets the standard for a day trip boat!
