Because I feel they were cumbersome and a waste of time. I believe divers should be taught a good understanding of the concept of RNT. I'll agree that learning basic air tables is a good way to instill that into you. With that knowledge behind you the use of a computer is a far better resource for diving Nitrox.

Back when I learned tables and was diving a lot of Great Lakes wrecks it seemed like we developed a practice of spending our bottom time at depth and then heading for the surface - typical square profile. I think multiple profile depth dives are much safer and better accomplished with a computer. I'm just talking recreational diving here though.
