First thing I thought of when I read this was that I noticed a difference between air I got from my local dive shop and a re-fill I got at a dive site. When I took the Nitrox course the shop owner let us know that they use the same filters to do air fills as they use for Nitrox. They do this to keep our tanks O2 clean.
What I noticed was that the air from the LDS was much drier than the air from the dive site. Maybe the problem is dehydration. When you get a Nitrox fill it is drier than a regular air fill. Did you notice 'cotton mouth' after diving with Nitrox? Maybe better hydration would allow you to use Nitrox.
