I'll be getting my Nitrox cert in the next 2 weeks, in advance for my upcoming AquaCat trip this fall. I was going to dive Nitrox during the trip, due to the high number of dives we'll be doing. On the deep dives, obviously Nitrox is not an option...but my question is this: Is the $100 extra for the Nitrox worth it, or am I wasting my money?

have you asked them to include it?

It works about half the time.

I think you'll like having the nitrox cert. It deffintly makes things nicer. When I'm going back in the water and most of my buddies are hanging out on shore because they need a longer SI, its deffintly worth it. When your buddies swim over and signal they need to surface because thier dive time is up and you just smile and wave because you have anouther 20+ min left on yours, worth it again.

If this is the case then they are not really your buddies are they. They are just peolpe diving in the same water while you go solo.
I am about to do a nitrox class to but I dont think I will be doing alot of nitrox dives. But it will be good to have it for those special dive trips

Yes they are my buddies, I tend to dive with slightly larger groups and more than one of us use nitrox. And just because they are low on air is no reason for me to abondon my dive as long as I see them safely to the surface or they have anouther buddy to head back with.

First, I think the extra 100 bucks is well worth it..Just for the added safety..
Out of curiosity, why is nitrox not an option on the "deep dives" What is the max depth going to be? You can dive EAN32 down too 110' and still maintain a PP02 of 1.4

We were talking about nitrox yesterday and was told that Belize and a few other placs are going to start requiring nitrox to dive. Has anyone else heard this and is it a rumor? I have been thinking about doing the nitrox class soon anyways so at least I will have it. SOme of us are wanting to do a dive on the Great Barrier Reef next year.

Sounds like a rumor to me and if not then its a way for them to make more money.

For the SI benefit, yes, I buy it but Safety, show me the better safety stats.

Nitrox is great for longer bottom times on dives 75-110 feet. (EAN32)
Some say you feel better after diving nitrox, I might agree to a slight degree.
