... that is the question.

I'm booked on the Red Sea Aggressor departing next week. I am PADI Nitrox certified. Should I pay the nitrox supplement? I will be by myself so will have to tag along with someone on the boat (passenger or DM). It's my first liveaboard, so I don't know how prevalent nitrox use is. I intend to do the max dives offered per day (up to 5). One of those dives will be fairly deep, but most should be at normal recreational depths.

So, what do people recommend?

Thanks,

JD

Nitrox

If you want to get the most out of repetitive diving...Nitrox

Is this a good example of what a rhetorical question is?

JD, if you get buddied up with someone who ends dives early on gas, I think you'd have all the right to request a new buddy, should not be a big deal, be best to have someone more compatible to your own level. The initial buddy should not take offense to it either, you're paying good money and it would be very reasonable expectation that you get the most out of your trip, enjoy it. With nitrox, always ;)

If you say they're offering five dives a day, you're going to want Nitrox.

If you're only doing two or three, you could get away with air... but why pass up extra dives?

Depends on the depth profiles. How close to NDLs are you? How shallow can you dive?

I do live aboards on air. Only place this was ever an issue is T&C where the top of the wall is around 50 feet. So we just do four sixty minute dives on that boat each day.

In Belize we can do five seventy minutes dives a day with no NDL worries.
