Nitrox class - Q about dive (non)requirement

I plan to take a Nitrox class pretty soon. I hear PADI no longer requires dives, just the classroom part of this. Don't know what NAUI is up to (my original certifying agency). In any case, just wondering if disagrees with the PADI decision to nix the dive part of the requirment.
