Nitrox certification in Los Angeles

My two kids and I would like to do our nitrox certification before we head to Grand Cayman this summer.

I've checked a couple local shops and all push the PADI e-learning route, but it seems a high price to pay when paying it three times over. I'm all for paying the instructor for their time - I just don't want to buy for the same learning materials over and over.

Does anyone know a shop in the LA area, or a private instructor who would have a more reasonable option?

Padi really wants you to buy their materials, it’s how they make money. The instructor fees go to the shop or instructor.

hollywood divers does nitrox through sdi for a reasonable amount

You only need to buy one book. Copy the knowledge reviews, x3, to turn in for the class. Saves a little bit at least.

For a course that’s a little more than a run of the mill Nitrox course, try this:
Nitrox Diver · UTD Scuba Diving

There’s both online and face to face with an instructor. Several instructors in LA. You’ll find 32% a great mix for the Caymans, have fun!

I took a PADI no tables no e-learning "Enriched Air Diver" course at my local dive shop for $120. Read the manual and two hours classroom and multi-choice test. Shop around.
