Does Cressi state that it's not compatible with nitrox???

Update:
I just went to the Cressi web sited and reviewed the technical specs on your BC.
Nowhere in the description does Cressi state that the BC is incompatible with Nitrox.

I would have no problem using it with regular mix nitrox (32, 36 etc), if there is a statement about nitrox its probably just the standard insurance "get out of jail free" card. It probably hasnt been through the full certification procedure for nitrox, but it would be a foolish manufacturer who knowingly used incompatable materials in any diving equipment. I would be a bit more reluctant to put 80% through it mind you.

Who told you that?

My experience with Cressi is they say that about all their products but when you call they tell you that they are not set up for over 40% meaning they are not O2 friendly and any thing more than 40% will cause Oxidation of the internal parts of their regulators and BC’s But double check with your particular BC by calling their tech support.

DiveMaven:
And how might a BC not be nitrox compatible??

I'm assuming they are worried about a mix with higher oxygen contents hitting the parts inside the BC inflator and igniting.

I think it's legal BS though.

Cheers.

Have you checked your SPG, and hoses, and drysuit? Nothing worse than a drysuit that is not nitrox compatible. And make sure to wear nitrox compatible boxers or briefs under that drysuit.:shakehead

In other words, hogwash.

I heard that Nitrox will give you better gas mileage if you use it in your car tires...;)

As Rick and others have said, someone is pulling your leg.
