Hi all,
Does anyone have any intel on this computer? Any actual field reports on reliability, and user friendly. At 500.00 I do not want to be disappointed.
Thanx in advance
Eric

It is a great computer overall. I use them a good bit and have sold a good many of them. It won scuba diving magazines best buy and their tester's choice awards. I used them when pretty harshly when I was on a public safety dive team and never had an issue with them. Big easy to read numbers in a small package. I have some specials on them that are not on my web page, so if I can help PM me. They are on sale. I am in the middle of a complete page rework....that page and domain will be going away soon.

I've got a Nitek 3, the old workhorse of gas switching computers. I love it except for the warning-your-hand-is-now-out-of-the-water beep which I think they ditched on the Duo.

I'd bet the Duo is one of the best values out there for gas switching computers.

I have the Apeks Quantum which is basically the same computer. I also have a download cable for my PC. I'm very happy with the computer, although I have had two failures which were promptly replaced by the shop. I paid under C$400, so you should shop around for a better price.

I dive the Cressi Archimedes II, which is the same thing with a different name, and one of my regular buddies dives the Duo, and both of us have had nothing but good experience with them. They are very easy to use and understand right off the bat. I do agree with the other posters, I think $500 seems pretty pricey, Diverite Express shows it for $389 in a wrist boot.

I got mine about 9 months ago for a Adv Nitrox/Deco Procedures course that I still haven't found the time to take. I like it a lot, though my only complaint is that there isn't a Deep Sea Supply bungee wrist mount made for it.

I've been using the Cressi Archimede (the original version) for four years now and still love it. If I ever replace it, I'll go for the Archimede II, Nitek Duo, Quantum, etc.

Big numbers for these old eyes, easy to use and to replace the battery, and reliable. Great computer.

Phil
