I recently moved up from a G10 with the beautiful FishEye FIX housing to a D90 and the Nauticam housing just arrived in the mail. After having played around with various housings options this housing is pretty amazing. The quality and ergonomics are pretty amazing. I have not tried it out yet (getting it wet on Saturday) but from a general build standpoint its beautiful.

I also debated about a D300/300s and figured the added cost and very little noticeable gain in IQ along with the smaller size of the D90 made the D90 a smart purchase.

Enjoy!

Aussie:
Are you shooting with the 8" dome? I was flipping through your photos and noticed a halo - looks like a reflection from something in the dome. I am occasionally getting the same effect - see attached photo. Ideas??? Also attached a photo of yours that I noticed it on. Great photo by the way.

Hi Wetlens.

Yes I use the 8 inch dome with the Tokina 10-17mm. I have been mainly using it without the shade and often get a little halo when shooting towards the sun. I have put the shade back on and get it ready for this summer when the mantas come back and see if that makes any difference.

Regards Mark

Great pics zahner. What software are you using for post processing?

I'm really interested in this thread as I want the D90 to be my next camera.

Thanks.

Personally Im a much bigger fan of machined aluminum housings. More compact, better ergonomics and controls. The new Nauticam D90 is a masterpiece of aluminum. VERY compact, excellent ergonomics, and a wide variety of port adapters to allow use of other manufacturers ports. The ability to shoot with fiber optic cables is a real plus, as is the new Nauticam viewfinder

What about a compare/contrast of Nauticam with the Aquatica housing for the D90. Is the Nauticam housing worth the $400-500 price difference? I see you carry both housings. Thanks.

I was shooting RAW + JPEG low. The attached images are processed and resized JPEG low images. I use an ancient version of Paint Shop Pro, probably 6 years old, but it does everything I need. I have CS3 but I am just now beginning to play with the RAW files.
