Last weekend a buddy and I did our first night dive at Cat. The seas were almost flat calm, the air was mild, and we had decent viz. You need an extra hand traversing cat with a flashlight of course. We took some surface nav references as a backup, and left a flashlight on a rock to use as a return beacon if our compass nav was off. It was a great dive! We followed our usual course due East out to the "moon" (deepest portion of the site at about 75') then due West coming back. I was surprised we did not see more fish....but it was a beautiful dive.

An awesome dive, day or night. I turned Dash Riprock onto Cat night dive back in his newbie days.
I am hesitant to leave a light out but have left my flag on the the top of rocks where enter so able to shine light at shore, see reflection of flag to know where to go back in.

The downside is at dusk in summer, I've had lots of annoying bugs/gnats swarming.

It is treacherous getting back up and down at night and definately need a hand for light.
