I started a tradition some years ago. Oh holydays like Easter, Christmas, as well as important other holidays like Thanksgiving, I try to get in a couple of hours of reflection, peace, and quiet by getting UW, chatting with whatever marine life wants to visit, and generally enjoying the beauty of nature.
This morning I was lucky enough to get in a nice dive off the beach in Deerfield Beach (FL). After two months of winds and seas, with only an occaisional break timed to conflict with work, the conditions were very nice this morning. Blue water was close in to shore, altho there is still a lot of sediment from the erosion over the last weeks. The result was 50' of viz, but pretty water. But I snuck in 95 minutes, and had a very enjoyable dive. Water temps are gradually inching up (76-77 degree) and I ditched the hood so I could hear the seasounds.
The patch reef has lots of sand surrounding it, and there are new areas exposed from the shifting currents and winds. The inside reef is well worth exploring since the weather has exposed some new terrain. Some shells have been uncovered. There was also a tremendous amount of juveniles hiding in the new holes. I spotted a bunch of juvie drums, all fingernail size (my nails, not nails created by the Boca Spa and Nail Salon). Other sights:
A baby playing I Am Curious Trigger
Mr Jack, cruising of course
Octo holes, but no visible octos
A lunch sized flounder who will see another day due to my reflective nature
More neat stuff
So the gear is washed and drying, and I'm off to clean the pool filters before enjoying a nice kosher ham. The edge has been smoothed - I guess I can go to work tomorrow and pretend not to notice the stuff that makes us all crazy.
Happy Easter
