The next PADI IDC takes place on 2 September at Downbelow's PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre on Gaya Island in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo.

The Instructor Exam immediately follows the IDC on 12 and 13 September.

Now is a great time to consider joining our professional scuba diving internships. We have an experienced and highly trained Go Pro team, lead by resident PADI Course Director Richard Swann and his crew of IDC Staff Instructors, Master Scuba Diver Trainers and Open Water Instructors.

They're are always glad to share tips and experiences and as much knowledge as you're willing to absorb.

We are based on Gaya island, from where we dive every day. Best part is, our pro interns get unlimited diving.

Boat diving aside, we also do plenty of shore dives and beyond the natural lagoon that is literally a giant stride away from the dive centre entrance, lies the house reef - where jungle meets ocean. It starts as a rocky slope down from the tropical Gaya island, hosts beautiful shallow corals and then slopes down to 20m for all sorts of surprises. And that's just one of over 40 reefs and dive sites in the marine park we're in.

The internship can start and end at any time around the IDC. One of the main benefits of starting early is that you will have plenty of time to learn and practice the skills required to breeze through the IDC and IE, all the while working with real customers. Staying on after the IDC, on the other hand, will provide experience as a qualified PADI OWSI and getting better acquainted with the behind-the-scenes operations of a busy dive centre - its invaluable editions that will make your resume stand out when you're looking to land that dream diving job.
