decided to use the newer 14-42 kit lens from my E-PM1 on my E-PL1 last night and i struggled to get shots. it would give me the AF box then once i fully pressed the shutter button, it would give me the green circle and not shoot....i changed settings (but stayed in manual) and it was still hit and miss (for me, at least) getting shots all dive...should i have switched to aperture/shutter priority? to cap it all off, my eardrum/round window/whatever burst with about half my air left so i had to quit th dive early :(...

edit: using 2 strobes (YS27DX and YS02), SOLA500 @ full power, ran aperture/shutter speeds from F5-F11/100-160 to get shots all night. tried full wide, 1/4 zoom, 1/2 zoom, etc. it just seemed very inconsistent...or maybe it was my frustration also getting the best of me.

thank, wisnu...yeah, i don't know what was going on but it was pretty inconsistent all dive. a bit disappointed that i could not get better pics of the frogfish...i felt bad that i was "hogging" it since i had to keep messing with settings so i got what i could then handed him off to my buddies. tried going back later but my ear issue prevented that. hopefully, i am not out of the water too long and get back there again soon. maybe next time, i will just bring my G12....

did you update the firmware for all your components?
Not sure if that's an issue or not, just asking.

E-PL1 body updated to 1.2....not sure if the E-PM1 lens needed it...it didn't show that it did.

I just got an Oly E-PM1 and have been trolling the board here.

When I was reviewing the 14-42mm ƒ3.5-5.6 II lens on: Olympus Lens: Zooms - Olympus 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II M.Zuiko Digital (Tested) - SLRgear.com!

There was post in the user reviews section about using Oly's new kit lens, and probably any Oly micro 4/3rds lens, on different camera bodies. Turns out, the lens must be matched or reset to the particular camera body it is being used with. Here is the process:

>Shut off the camera.
> Lock and remove the lens.
>Re-install the lens, but do not unlock it.
>Go to reset in the camera menu and follow the instructions.
>Then you can unlock the lens and it will be matched up with the current camera body.

"slrgear.com" is the lens review and testing site for Digital Cameras, Digital Camera Reviews - The Imaging Resource!. This site and Digital Photography Review are the two websites I reference most when checking out digital cameras. After reading their concise reviews, you pretty much know what you need to know to operate your camera.

Hope this helps.
