The wife and I will be doing our open water class and confined water dives this weekend. And hopefully a little more pool time in the next couple of weeks. The dive shop has there on pool and we can use the pool for free any time. We will be headed down to Key Largo for our check out dives (first week in April) and hopefully a couple more days of diving. Right now we have 4 afternoons booked. 2 for the certification and 2 more to see if we learned anything. Its gonna be tough to wait.

We went ahead and splurdged a little with the initial equipment. Fins, snorkel, boots and mask. Figured we would only cry once. Joined the shops dive team and and got that money back with the discount that members get. Off the class and equipment. Plus the Dive shop also owns a store in Key Largo and Islamarado. And offers discounts down there also.

We have been talking about doing this for 3 years and finally gonna get to do it.

Hi. Were are you located?

Good luck with your training and have fun.

Sounds like a great plan. Remember that everyone adpapts at their own rate so be patient and supportive with each other, odds are it will be smooth sailing. Doing it all in a weekend is very fast but it is enough time to expose you to the common essentinals. Be sure to take advantage of that pool time to hone skills, build comfort and to really practice communications and working together as a buddy team. Too often divers are rushed through the stuff.

Good to hear that you have a LDS that will provide plenty of oportunity to grow a circle of buddies. Having a nice circle of bussies affords each of you the chance to dive when one of you cares not to.

Have a great trip too, we expect a full report!

All the very best with your training. Its great when partners dive together, in my experience it makes for a much more comfortable dive.

Welcome to closest thing to flying! Take your time and enjoy every minute of your time under water. Once you get certified, try to find some dive partners who share your enthusiam and go for the gusto.
As you can probably tell, I hate the sport! LOL

Welcome underachiever! I'd encourage you to fill out your profile and tell us more about yourself. There are alot of new divers (I'm in that category) and many much more experienced divers here. It is a GREAT place to learn. Glad you've joined us.

Hey Underachiever -

My husband and I are planning a trip to Key Largo in May - I'd love to hear any recommendations about shops, accommodation - anything at all, really! Who are you going to be diving with?

And, although this may not be new information, there’s a Florida forum here: http://www.scubaboard.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55

Cheers,
Liz
