Hello Everyone:
I finally realized a life long dream and become a certified diver!!! My husband and I were on vacation in Maui and I had planned a discovery scuba "lesson". Boy that was the wrong thing for me. My husband took to it; like a "fish in the water"; me on the other hand flipped out. Anyone who knows me, knows I will try anything and everything once. Not really sure what happen but lucky for me our instructor, Mike Hanna, was the best. The first tank was wasted on my bobbing up and down. Scared to death to stay under. Like I said I have not idea way. I love the water and have been swimming before I could walk. We got out of the water and Mike spent a good bit of time talking to me about my reaction was normal for some people ect... Well I got back in.. heart racing and I did it and loved it. Signed up for the class. By the end of the class Mike and my husband were like look she is already down and ready to go. After we did all skills works, I felt so much better. I understood how everything worked more or less. The video help also. Since it was just Mike and us we really got a lot of practice with all the skills. If we were not comfortable with something, we just did over and over again. Even if we did it right, Mike knew that I was not comfortable with flooding my mask.. so I did again and again and again!!! Well I still don't like it but I can do it with one snort! We went on one dive with Mike after our certification and 3 on our own. I am thinking of going to Summerville Lake in WV... any recommendations?
