Hello all,
my name is carlos and I'm recently recertified after a long layoff.
great to be back among the friendly diving community.
looking forward to go dive point lobos in august. Any pointers, recommendations or important info. to enhance the dive experience from anyone will be greatly
appreciated.
 
Welcome to the board. We have regional forums and you will get your best info by posting in one of those where you plan to dive.

When were you first certified?

I was first certified as a junior in high school, I dove for about 5 years and then layed off as my college load got more intense through grad school, then got busy with work and family.
I simply got caught in the old saying from a Beatle song that states "life is what happen while you're busy making other plans".
Great to be back to diving, can't believe how much things have changed, our BC's back then consisted of the old horse collar type.

There are lots of folks still diving horse collars if you want to dive like you did back in the day. If you post in basic scuba discussions about it, I am sure someone can direct you to where you could by new "old" gear. If you are buying newer gear, there are more opinions on the board than there are members. By asking about stuff you can start to get a sense of what the real deal about any given thing related to diving where it be gear or a place to dive.

Do you have a dive buddy or will you be doing a pick up buddy from the shop or charter?
 
three of us are planing to dive at point lobos on the 18th of august, we can always use another dive buddy, especially since the recommendation by the folks at point lobos is teams of two up to 15 pairs/day,
How possible is it for you to make it to point lobos on the date mentioned?
And no, I don't want to dive the old way all the new stuff makes diving much more fun and hassle free. it's just a matter of checking out what's out there and what works best for me, for now I'll be renting tank,bc and reg.
 
I wasn't planning to tag along. Too long of a drive and gas is too HIGH!! LOL I just wondered if you had a buddy yet. That is often a challenge for new divers or those returning after a while. Glad you have a coulple of folks to dive with.

After your dive, hope you will post under the regional forum and let us know how it went!
