Hey All,

I found this board (while at work) and keep looking over my shoulder!! :eyebrow: I can't stop reading the posts! Great site!

Although born with gills and snorkeling my entire life I have only recently gotten into SCUBA.

I was HOOKED from the "first" breath I took in that pool. Watching everyone's eyes was incredible! I knew that exact second that I wanted to see that look over and over again.

I am now interested in pursuing my dive instructors certification. I'm sure I'll be asking all kinds of questions about gear, LDS , best practices, training referrals etc.

One thing I have been looking for that I can't seem to find is an accurate guide for dive industry pay scales based on position. (i.e., dive master salary vs.. instructors etc)

Currently, I live in Toronto Canada but my wife and I are in the process of moving back down to Southern California where I would like to pursue a dive career full time.

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi, and I'm very happy to have found you guys.

Welcome to Scubaboard! There's a lot of dive professionals on the board who can probably help you find the information you are looking for.

Thanks Scott! I hope (eventually) I'll be able to provide so useful information as well!

cheers!

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

It's great to see your enthusiasm for diving and a future in the industry as a professional. I think you will find a lot of dive professionals here at ScubaBoard that will be able to help guide you in your quest. But remember to take your time. It's not a race and there is a lot to learn and enjoy about diving along the way to reaching your goals. If you go slow, you will be a better instructor because of your experience.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Thanks HeadHunter, I totally agree with you. I will definitely take my time and log as many dives as I can in between. I completely respect the water and the in depth knowledge one must have to teach this sport. I've spent allot of time on the Padi website salivating over the different specialty certification levels. I want to introduce people to the wonders of the sport and also teach them to respect our waters and the creatures that live in them (we are the visitors, respect is my message.)

What's that expression: "Take nothing, leave bubbles??"

Welcome Jeff. Keep in touch and maybe we can dive together sometime.

welcome to the board Jeff... the place to find great chats, great info, and great people... enjoy. BTW,,,, I'm Al from Ottawa

Hello from Matt,

Welcome to ScubaBoard ! :1poke: I came here to look for help with my scuba diving dream and the response has been fantastic. So, I know you will enjoy being a member here.
There are a lot of nice and informative scuba divers. It's a good place to meet other divers and share experiences and dreams. Take care from Matt. :snorkels:

Heya and welcome to the Board! This a great place to hang out during a SI. You’ll meet tons of new friends and dive buddies right here! This place has a wealth of knowledge to offer divers of any level. I know that exact feeling your talking about. I'm just about finished with my DM class, but I still help out with students (can't help it, I love it) I plan on taking my IDC/IE at the end of this year. As far as $$ is concerned, as a DM there's not alot here, enough to just survive. I couldn't tell you about being an instructor, but I'm pretty sure you wont get rich (not with money anyways) Good luck, and again welcome to the board.

Vickie
Best wishes !
