I was looking at Suunto's site, it appears the cobra only shows remaining cylinder preasure in bars? Ok very new to diving and starting OW on the 22nd. My question is can you set it to display psi? How many psi is in a bar? Acording to there manual it would be something close to 13.33333 psi to a bar? Seems a bit strange, however there manual "Rated working pressure: 300 bar [4000 psi]"

If 300 bar is 4000 psi that works out to 13.33333 psi per 1 bar? Ok am I confused (Which might be the case) or is this much easier then that? The last thing I want to do is calculate math at the bottom of the damn ocean... :)

Someone clear me up please....

yes, it can be set to read psi.... they'd lose most of their customers if they wanted everyone to use bar...

Oh thank god...

I am pretty stoked on this computer and was about to have to start shopping all over again LOL.... Thank you Jamie

It is a great little CPU, it has imperial measurements so no worries there. Suunto is in Finland so that is why you are seeing the bars in the pictures...

when santa brought me mine it was set up in bars and the instructions were in german...I managed to figure most everything out on the computer, including changing the units, without the manual. I think that says alot for its user friendliness. I also have a new instruction book in english, and the book is also available off of suuntos website if your interested, in pdf format.

For anyone who's interested here is a little conversion program that I use. It's pretty neat, even nasa uses it...although they should have used it more on the previous mars lander, lol.

That's a great program. Being born in Europe I'm totally metric.

It's funny though here in Australia, at least in my experience, in diving everything is metric; air pressure/depth/temperature except for lead weights which are measured in pounds :)

I was lost when living in England for a year. Distance was measured in miles, unless it was a short distance then it was centimeters. And then when they asked me how many stones I weighed I was even more confused.

Some guy at the grocery store asked me if he could pinch my trolley, I said "Excuse me?", I guess he just wanted to use my shopping cart since I was done with it. I was thinking something far different than that.

Its a very nice air integrated computer IF you want a console.

Think long and hard about that though, because you're stick with the console. I have one that my g/f uses, and its a very nice unit, but I prefer my depth/timing device on my wrist.

Genesis,
Call me paranoid, but I came from the Rock Climbing world where we have backup on everything. I have a Citizen dive watch that I keep as a backup on my wrist for bottom time. If I am concerned with time only it is alot quicker to look there, however I love the features of the cobra which is why I chose it.
