Just watch out for Grier and his "plunging sausages". He's just a little bit odd, but the rest of us are OK. ;)

I thought we were not to bring up his personal lifestyle on the boards :eyebrow:

anyway, check in often and don't worry about being a newbie....we all were at one time. Just invite yourself to any dive that gets posted here and have fun.

I'm in West Palm Beach, FL. Did my cert up in Jupiter with some friends who live up that way. Last weekend we dove The Grotto and Loggerhead. Very fun! :) I'll be checking out the Conch section soon!

Hi Pandie, congrats on your certification and welcome to the board. Sounds like you've done a little reading here already. (NO, Evil Grier, don't mention the plunging sausage!)

You'll have to join us for one of our famous/infamous beach dives and surface intervals. There's nothing to be afraid of, I promise... :crafty:

Best wishes and safe ascents,
Grier

Welcome Pandie, really we are mostly harmless. Really. Like everybody else has mentioned, check out the Florida Conch Divers for local dives. The dives are in the Private Trips section. Any trip posted is an invitation to join the fun. We are always diving and welcoming new folks to our group, heck, even Grier was new once...and now we post warnings about him!
And, dont' worry about being new, we all were once.

Hey! We're diving in West Palm tomorrow night! Kinda short notice for you this time, but it won't be long until the next one if you can't make it.

Yeah, all joking aside, I've only been on the board since December (That's hard to believe, 'cause this group seems like family now!)

This is a great place to ask questions, to hook up with people with one primary thing in common - the love of diving! Lots of clubs get together and talk about their dive adventures, but the Conchs are going out day after day, deciding in the middle of an afternoon that a night dive might be just the thing to erase the stress of a busy day, etc.

One other thing - from my experience, most of the folks here haven't forgotten how hard it was to get good info on the sport. I'm serious when I say that I learn new things on every dive, whether it's info on fish id, tips on bouyancy control and navigation, or just the best way to approach a particular beach site.

Come dive with us, and it will spoil you!

Again, welcome to the board and the sport,
Grier

Welcome aboard Pandie! Enjoy the site, and happy diving.

Congrats on your completion. Hubby & I both dive.
Well, not at the moment (still recovering from hand surgery), but for the most part she's telling the truth ;)

We have a great group from the conch divers that meets often for dives. Welcome aboard!
That's also true. BTW, welcome to SB
