Hiya, I'm just discovering scubaboard for the first time. It's pretty great.
I'm a San Francisco based diver but like to travel. I'm a newbie - only 10 dives logged but all of them abroad (Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Vietnam).

I'm going to be in Jordan this April and will stay a little while in Aqaba. Was hoping to get some advice or tips on tour operators, dive sites or anything really from people who have been to the Red Sea?

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks ya'll.

Welcome to Scubaboard :)

I can't help much on traveling abroad, because I mostly dive our incredible reefs locally. These are sections related to most everywhere in the world and would probably be a better place to ask your question.

Maybe you would be interested at checking out the local are some time? There is a NorCal section here.

There is no better diving on earth, IMHO, than the diving that is within two hours drive from where you live.

Welcome to diving, and to :sblogo:!

I'm with Thal -- don't discount the diving you have locally. Take a look at the photo gallery on THIS site for a taste of what awaits a diver in Monterey!

As far as your question about Jordan and Aqaba, you might consider posting in our Red Sea subforum, where you are likely to get more eyes with experience in that area. I can tell you I have thoroughly enjoyed my two trips to the Red Sea, and it's worth making an effort to dive there if you can.
