recently start to have a serious interest to diving.love...water ..I grow up in an island soI spent long time in the beautiful waters of the mediterranean see.

I have a very touchy question in regards with deep see divers and consequent erection problem!
not sure what to make of it.
is it any problems related to the under water pressure ...or brething or the different gases?

this is a serious question....not interested in silly answer.
thank you

I am not sure from your post what you are asking. Are you trying to say you are having erection problems? Or do you want to know if diving causes them? More details please

As Ernie posted, a clarification would help. I'll take a shot at this, though

If you are experiencing this problem, see a doctor. It may mean you got bent. DCI affects the nervous system, including the spinal cord. It is possible to have problems after taking a hit. If this has happened, you've hopefully seen a doctor already.

Pressure, breathing different gases, etc, alone shouldn't have an effect. It's the bubbles.

hey evybody thanks so much for answering ......thotgh nobody new about this.
the question is ...is it true at all that deep diving can cause erection problems?
heard about it...and personally experiencing this ......Im a woman ....its my man that has the problem and I don t know how to ask or bring it up.....somewhere I heard that it s acommon cause for deep see divers.
true or not?
what do you guys mean when you say "beeing bent?"it s the bubbles?
need more explanation...really concern wife.
thanks

It can, but if it were decompression illness, I would not think it would be an intermittant problem. Occasional problems would more likely have (in my opinion) another cause. Without details of the problem, there is no way to tell. If there is any doubt, see a Doctor or call DAN.

Like Ernie stated, DCI is not usually an intermittent thing. Is this a consistent problem for your man or is it hit or miss? If it's consistent, it may be caused by diving, but there should be other problems too. If not consistent, then look to other causes. What age range is he in?

"Being bent" is a phrase for decompression illness. In other words, the diver's body has not off gassed all of the nitrogen bubbles it took in while at depth. Divers place themselves in a higher pressure when going underwater. The greater the depth, the more pressure exerted on the body. This causes the body to take in a higher percentage of nitrogen than on the surface. Because of this divers must ascend at a slow rate and sometimes do safety or decompression stops to allow more time for the body to get rid of the excess nitrogen bubbles. It's referred to as being bent because it was first noticed in miners who worked in high pressure mines. They would come out after working several hours (12-16) in the high pressures without allowing the nitrogen to off gas. The pain from this causes severe pain in the joints, which in turn causes the person to bend all joints to try to relieve the pain.

As for your hubby, if he was bent, he would probably have other symptoms as well--difficulty standing or walking would be common symptoms in conjunction with erection problems. Suggestion--talk to your hubby. From the small amount of information you have provided, it doesn't sound diving related.

the problem is consistent.
you guys ask the exact problem:the problem is that he cannot have a full erection ....he doesn t stay erect....as if the blood flow won t stay in there.....or the blood flow woun t go there the the full exent of keeping his penis hard.
I read that if a man wakes up with an erection in the morning than there is no problems.....but he doesn t wake up with erection.
he doesn t seem to have beeing bent .....he seems all right ....even thotgh defenately always tired and drained.

you say talk to him.
how do you approach a man about something like that?
don t want to heart his fellings.
any suggestions?
thank you everybody

Sounds like this could be the source of the problem, not diving.

With all the stress in the world today, it's not all that uncommon a problem. You may want to start by doing some research on it yourself. Talk to your doctor. Try to learn about it so you can try to figure out the cause. Being tired and drained could definitely do this. Start by doing an Internet search on "erectile dysfunction" then go from there.

You know him, we don't. So only you can decide how to approach him. Whether you approach him or not, though, it's good to be informed.
