Need some help on dive locations and operators along the East Coast. I will be vacationing next month and want to dive all along the coast. Normally, I would have posted in the various regions, but wanted to get a good variety of opinions here in the basic forum.

I live in New York and have done the USS San Diego, Jupiter's drifts, and in the past have done the Spiegel Groove in Key Largo. I will be driving to visit my niece in Key West.

Where would you dive during a two week trip?

Safe diving!

I think for that kind of time, you would be remiss in not taking a liveaboard to the Dry Tortugas. I will be running tech charters and in the Bahamas most of August, but the Ultimate Getaway out of Fort Myers is a great choice also. a 3 day trip will get you to the finest reefs in the Florida Keys. Aside from that, what do you like, reefs, wrecks, all or none of the above? There are plenty of great artificial reefs in the keys aside from the Spiegal Grove, including the Vandenberg, Thunderbolt, Duane and Bibb, Eagle, etc. While you're in Key West look up Finz Dive Center at Hurricane Hole Marina. They dive some of the out of the way reefs that the larger operators don't go to.

If you wind up stopping in SC either try Express Watersports in Myrtle Beach (Murrell's Inlet) or Charleston Scuba farther south. It's usually wreck diving, the farther out the better the visibility gets. There's also some artificial reefs and a few natural ledges. In August plan on 84-85o also.
