I have returned from our clubs NYD dive called the Frozen fin dive. It is an apropriate name and this was my first winter dive. I was surprised that I had very little apprehension and I think it was because of my dive buddy (an instructor and friend).

I only have 200gr undies for my dry suit and am using wetsuit gloves. I added a light sweatsuit. Iwill state here and now DRY GLOVES are in my future.

The conditions were 33deg h2o and 34deg air with 5-7mph wind. I'm located in Upstate New York and we dove in Skaneatlas Lake, one of the Finger Lakes.

There were 30-35 people diving today and I found it to be very relaxing once I aclamated(sp). I thought my face would fall off and almost called the dive but after a few min the lips went numb. My hands were alright for around 18-20 min into the dive and then I signalled Dave to return to shore. The visibility was excellent (50-60ft). We did a 28min. dive and I still had 2000 in my 95 tank. I was also surprised when I started in my normal breathing pattern for warmer water and didn't chug air. All in all a great day with good people and chili and soup after.

I guess I'm now hooked on diving all year.
