Hello everybody!

I recently moved to Ohio from Hawaii (previous resident of Ohio) and I'm looking into exploring the shipwrecks and cool diving sites around here. I'm a certified PADI rescue diver + Nitrox. If you guys have any suggestions, advice, stories, anything I'd be happy to hear.

Thanks a lot.

Mng coming soon.

Btw don't let them scare you. That coooooooolllllddd fresh water preserves very cool wrecks.. Get exposure protection and have fun

Have your already purchased your dry suit :)? Welcome to the Great Lakes diving.

Nope, not yet. I've been waiting until I actually go diving around here before I make the purchase. I usually rent gear anyway, since I am unable to scrounge up the funds to purchase the stuff I really want.

Cool, thanks I didn't see that thread (hence I made one).

Right now I'm attending school at Ohio University in Athens. But my family (and where I'll be spending this summer) is in Marysville, Ohio. It's off 33.

Yeah I'm pretty excited to see some shipwrecks. I don't expect to see as much vibrant sea life as in Hawaii, but I generally just enjoy being underwater so as long as I'm under I'm having fun.

I've been to one wreck in Hawaii, not sure where it was though. So it'll be really interesting to see the wrecks up in the lakes. Especially if they are preserved so well.

Come out to the Meet and Greet and dive with us! If you don't have a drysuit, make sure to at lease buy/borrow/rent a 7mm with thick gloves, boots and a hood. That's manageable, especially if you stay on the shallow side at Gilboa. If you can't make the MnG, keep an eye on this forum for folks diving locally. Many times people post where/when they're going diving. Several very nice quarries in NW Ohio, as well as Lakes Erie and Huron.

Eric,

There is an LDS in Hilliard named Aquatic Adventures. Large shop. They have the suits and tanks. For rental and/or purchase. Right off 270.

Relatively close to you in Marysville.

Welcome to the area. It would be great if you could find a LDS that books trips all over The Great Lakes. Not just local trips. At Gilboa check out the tubes at around 60' and that will give you a hint of what the Great Lakes temp will be like.
