I'm a Fish!
Greetings to all on the board.
I've been searching for boards that have discussions concerning Dive operations as potential employers. As a fairly recently certified instructor ( 1 year) I know friends who have been hypnotized by the romantic/exotice call of the sea, and end up accepting jobs that are less than what they expected. I've listened to the stories and actually visited friends who were somewhat trapped in their circumstances due to contract obligations and wondered why I've never been able to find a board where this kind of topic has ever come up. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right place. It seems like a subject that instructors (regardless of certifying agency) would have a strong opinion about or an experience to relate, so that others might benefit. Does this board/thread/topic exist? I'm not interested in Dive Shop bashing or shameless plugging of someone's operation. Just good information on what to expect from a potential employment location/employer.

As for me. I am pretty familiar with French Polynesia and have friends who own a shop on Bora Bora. Anyone needing info please feel free to ask. If I don't know I can find out. I'm hoping to find work at quality operation where I can hone the art of teaching....it does seem to be art.

I never know what I'm searching for, only what I'm not searching for. My life is defined by what I've quit.
