And new to diving! I recently registered to try and learn all I could before I take my basic OWD class on 4/24. Looks like this is a great place to get help, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as time goes on.

Welcome to the board and to diving! We got folks in your area. Do you know of any local dive groups/clubs? Your LDS (local dive shop) shuold know a few. You'll dive more with dive friends and if you buy your own gear.
