I would recommend posting these questions in the ACCIDENT FORUM. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/accidents-incidents/ Plus any more information on these incidents would be helpful, such as the accident report by authorities, etc. It is sad when we lose divers and this forum helps us learn from their or the dive operators mistakes.

Congrats on your DM cert!

Happy and safe diving!

Welcome to ScubaBoard.

There is a lot of conflicting information about both of these incidents so it's very difficult if not impossible to comment and the details you provided certainly do not shed much light on the circumstances. As usual with these types of incidents, there is a lot of third and fourth hand discussion so we are waiting for the facts to come to light.

Who are the people having the debate about the procedures with the Discover Scuba? Do you work in the dive industry here? I'm just curious where you got your information.

Welcome to

There is a lot of questions I'd have to ask, a lot more info to be know before an opinion can be reached.

welcome to scubaboard underwatercrawler ;)

Welcome to the board. Everyone has an opinion but to ask what others my think on such little info is gossipy.
Follow your instinct and what you know as a DM (control, no dive is average) and how you have been trained in emergency situations. Out of air situations are careless and puts yourself and others at risk. Equipment failure is still on the operator in most cases. Care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Just being out of air for no other reason other than "OH I BREATH HARD" is "$h!#". Pay attention Diving is multi tasking at it best.....with your life and others on the line. If somebody can't handle the responsibility thay don't need to be out.
Well that was my ramble. Y'all have a good day.
