I made the switch to a steel BP/W last season and really enjoy it, especially with our 7mm suits, hood, gloves, etc. I also find it less confining than a regular BC and now need less lead on my weight belt for neutral buoyancy. THAT is a major plus.
 
Welcome to the sport. I certified a little over a year ago, now all my trips are based on 'how good is the diving there' :)
 
Tnx guys....well today was my fist open water and it was really cool saw lots of Small fish and,crabs only lasted 27 mins 17 feet deep...cant wait to go again
