Happened to this website by chance, started to look around and became super impressed!!!! Started diving three years ago and instantly became hooked. Last dive trip was to San Andres, Columbia, can give good insight for divers considering San andres.

Welcome LeeW! Great to have you aboard. You'll have to tell us a little about diving off of Columbia, I'll admit that its not someplace I ever considered before.

First off when people hear Colombia they freak. San andres is a part of Col but is an island 400 miles away. I never felt unsafe, actually i think San Andres is safer than the States. People are very warm and friendly and they realize that their whole existence depends on tourism. Economical yes! for example single hotel room with breakfast and dinner $35 a night. The diving was so so reef was very healthy with lots of sponges(the luminescent sponge that you posted a picture of i saw for the first time here) and really healthy coral. The fish Life was very poor, mostly adult fish. Why with the reef so healthy)very few juveniles Visibility was 60 to 100 feet. Karibik divers was great, met us at the airport on arrival, arranged transportation to hotel, and basically took care of us for the week above and below water. Werner(owner of Karibik) has the best dive operation i have ever used. Werner also came to the airport on our departure with a bottle of bourbon and some coca cola for a send off drink
