Welcome to the board. I live in Florida as well, unfortunately, it's in Jupiter. If you're ever in my area, give me a shout, we can blow some bubbles.
As far as finding buddies goes, Scubaboard actually has a buddy finder. It's on the top menu bar...alllllll the way to the right. You should be able to find divers in your area through that. From there, just contact them. We, for the most part, are a friendly bunch.
