First I will introduce myself – I’m 60 years old and a recovering work alcoholic that finally decided the life was to short to work 7 days a week 12 to 16 hours day. I have a tendency to over do things like I always wanted a Corvette so I bought three (2008 – 1965 – 1958 and yes I still own all three) then I decided I wanted Street rod so I bought two (1939 and 1935 and yes I still own them) you get the picture. Now I have turn my attention to scuba diving and will probably do the same thing but anyway I’m having fun and at the same time I’m reducing my tax liability to my heirs.

I just finished up the pool two weeks ago. The first day was kind of like a controlled panic; I was ready to bolt to the surface any moment and almost didn’t go back for the second pool session. The second day was much better, the instructor had to remind to surface and I felt more comfortable under water. That evening a purchase some gear and he want me to go pool prior to doing out open water to get use to the gear. Well, I burn though a tank of air in 33 minutes and seemed like I had just been in the pool for a few minutes. I’m starting to understand bouncy and have completed the all pool task including the mask off and on without a problem. I completed the 200-yard swim and float but I wasn’t satisfied with my performance so I’m working on treadmill, running and bicycling to improve my endurance. I feel not being in excellent shape could jeopardize my safety plus others that diving with me.

I have read the forums for couple weeks and I have gained a bunch of valuable information and have really enjoyed it the post. I won’t have much to add but I know I will have a few (lot) of questions along the way. I believed that a stupid question is the one you don’t ask so I will apologize for my stupid questions up front.

Welcome!
You are right, there are no stupid questions so free free to ask away. BTW, I loved my '58 vette! Wish I had it today.

Welcome!

Is it what you call mid-life crisis?! 3 'Vettes and 2 Rods? O.o

Anyway, you will enjoy Scuba Diving!

My daughter just asked me tonight why my Myspace page said 59; told her I'd be stuck at this age for a few years. :D
