Welcome! How's life in Costa Rica? Are you working there, or did you retire there?

I've visited once, and it seems to have a lot going for it as an ex-pat destination.

Nice to meet you.

Working for an international. I'm only 28 so far too young to retire just yet!

Some may know it but at least I didn't... the majority of jobs now in fintech in Costa Rica is actually for large internationals so it's not too uncommon to find this situation here. The only downside is I spend most of my time in the capital San Jose which is very boring in comparison to what everyone comes here for!

At least it's within a few hours drive, albeit I do miss the ease of travelling many European countries cheaply (even the neighbouring country flights are expensive here comparatively).

I know what you're saying about traveling in Europe. I lived there for ten years and every holiday weekend I could go to a different country for a few hundred dollars (hotel + flight/train or drive).

Used to get the Ryanair specials, sometimes it would be £9.99 for a flight from London to a close-by European city.

I've done Venice, Rome and Madrid on that flight cost. But otherwise normally £50-200 for a flight.

If you've not found it I use sky scanner and there is an option for 'go anywhere' which if you don't have a specific place to be, is good for exploring unusual and cheap destinations :)

Welcome. CR is on my short list.
Thanks. Diving is good on Pacific (Bats/Cats/Cano) - obviously Coco is amazing but far out and expensive.

Carribbean pretty boring - better to head over the border to Panama for that on this side.

Country in general is very fun and interesting if into nature / volcanoes though!

If you ever come drop me a message, happy to help.
