Hey fellow Californians. This past weekend i moved down to Monterey from way up north in Humboldt County. I'm excited to get wet in the calmer waters down here in the bay and do some regular diving. Anyway i would love to meet some of you folks down here for some dives since my buddy/brother is still up north. I work at home so i would be open for mid-week dives (after work) as well as weekend dives. I'm a newby compared to alot of you folks w/~30 dives since getting certified 6 months ago. 10 or so of those are cold water dives up in Mendocino. I'm a safe diver though and a would love to learn from you pros out there. I have all my own gear (except tanks) and have done all my dives with this setup. Also am getting started taking pictures and am a "take only pictures, leave only bubbles" diver so please no hunting. I think that covers it. If anyone is interested i'll PM my email and hopefully we can do some dives!

Thanks!
Chris

Chris,

I sent you a PM. Come dive with us!

Hey Chris, I too am learning the ropes about diving Monterey, the Norcal group here on the board seems to be a little reserved, let's change that, stay in touch and maybe when I start calling the shots me and you can go diving in Monterey.

I don't think I've ever been called reserved before. Even as part of a group. I'm taking it as a compliment. I do know what you mean - the Norcal crew can sometimes be a bit umm... slow to respond to queries.

I was actually toying with the idea of heading down to Monterey for some diving this weekend if conditions are good. They're looking marginally acceptable at the moment.

If you (or anyone else) have (or want to have) anything planned, shoot me a PM or post here.

Hey Scott, got you to reply did I? I have been invited to dive with a few folks from SB Sunday, looking forward to meeting and diving with more SBers in NorCal and Monterey.
And I did say "a little reserved".
David

problem is there is also a very active bay area divers list on yahoo groups...i think that takes away from the nor cal group..

i'm always willing to dive, have some buddies i go with pretty regularily, but if any of you guys ever need someone to dive with let me know, i have about 100 dives in monterey ( 8 short of my hundreth) and am rescue certified..i'm down there most weekends, but the past few weeks have been bad, and i leave this sunday for 10 days..after that though..let's go diving!!

Last Friday was the most spectacular diving I have ever seen around here. I heard similar stories from people who went out Saturday and Monday. That said, though, I was out yesterday and it was back to mediocre. At one point I even stopped to make sure I could see my own fins. I could, but not much further. I do wonder, though, if I'll ever see another day like last Friday. Visibility was 90+ down at Monastery and Point Lobos. I have heard the advice that you need to dive Monterey very frequently in order to catch the great days, because they are totally unpredictable. I believe it.

sorry, i meant bad for me, not for monterey, i had guests from ireland for 3 weeks...

Wow it just took a little goading and then the posts flood in ;) I figure i'm gonna go diving this weekend one way or another. If any of you guys want to meet up for a dive Saturday or/and Sunday I'd be totally there. Otherwise i'll try to hop on a boat. My gear would never forgive me if i was in Monterey over a week and it was still dry ;)

I'm also gonna throw this up to the BA diving list so for those of you on that list just ignore it.

Thanks!
Chris

i know for myself i don't even check the nor cal group specifically unless i see a post in the new posts section, because it's usually so quiet...

i might now just to see how David does in his effort to call the shots... ;)
