From what I hear North East Scuba is Chemlsford has a very good reputation.

North East Scuba in Chelmsford does a great job. I can also recommend a shop closer to you called Atlantic Divers (http://www.atlanticdivers.com/). I have received training from two instructors there - Andrew and Jeremy. Both are very good, very by the book in terms of process but you will learn more than the basic PADI standards. I dive with them on a regular basis (when they are not instructing).

Another vote for North East Scuba. Tom is very knowledgeable and does a great job.

Tom knows his sh*t and anyone would do well to learn from him. There are some other good instructors there too - Ken and Paul.

The instructors I mentioned from Atlantic Divers would be closer for the originating poster though. Whomever you choose, do so via a recommendation.

Take a look at PG Dive. They are based in Newton just minutes off the Pike. They limit their classes to 4 people. Genevieve and Paul have tons of teaching experience...both in Boston and Internationally.

I've heard mixed reviews about Northeast scuba... some folks I know seem to be very happy with the training and service, some others I know say they've had such bad experiences with the shop that they won't spend another dollar there ever again.

I don't have any 1st hand knowledge of Tom or NES either way, as I usually use South Shore Divers in Weymouth, but I recently bought a drysuit from PG dive, and was happy both with the service, and with the training they offered along with it.

My wife had a poor experience with Wanda, but I don't believe she has been teaching there for several years, correct me if I'm wrong.

Wanda has not worked for them in some years now.

I have had four instructors through NE Scuba - Tom, Ken, Paul, and Wanda. Wanda was a hottie (ha ha) but not a good instructor from my experience. The other three I mentioned are top, top notch and still there. I have had 8 instructors over the course of my dive training.
