Asthma is an issue that needs to be addressed. Consult a DIVE MEDICINE Physician, not a regular doctor, or a doctor who dives, but a doctor who is trained in dive medicine.Hey. I was just wondering, is asthma an issue in scuba diving? ...![]()
Asthma is a constriction of the airways. Keeping the airways open during SCUBA is critical. You will be breathing compressed air. Air is more compressed at deeper depths in your lungs than at shallower depths. If air traps (or you hold your breath) in your lungs and you change your depth to shallower by as little as 2 feet you can suffer a pneothorax (ruptured lung) or over expansion injury. That is not a good thing. So see a dive medicine physician and have some additional testing done.
