Hello. My name is Samantha and I am new to diving. (Hmmm, sounds a bit like AA.)

I am a recent gastric-banding patient and have lost almost 50 pounds. I have always wanted to learn to dive so I have given myself until January to lose more, get certified, and get some OW dives under my belt. If everything keeps going this well, I am taking myself to the Galapagos Islands to go diving! Two of my best friends are experienced divers and have said that they want to go, too!

I am in the written course portion of my training now, soon to move on to confined water dives. I have been inundated with information and have been reading a ton of books and other literature. I decided to complement all of this with a visit to these boards.

So... I'll be poking around, asking questions, and generally trying to get some real-world ideas from many of you.

See you around.

Samantha

Thank you so much. I am very excited about this; I have been saying I was going to do it for years, but just wasn't in the right place in my life. Now that I can take the time and focus for this, I am going into it full-bore.

I am looking forward to speaking with you.

Samantha
