Obviously you will also have to demonstrate the required skills, pass the written exam, watch the videos and a host of other things. But all those you will eventually pass as long as you can swim, are comfortable in the water and don't give up.

Hello everyone, you may or may not remember me :(

Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but I thing I gave up on the whole "scuba diving" thing

I guess it just wasn't in me...shame seemed like a good hobby :(

What happened?

No need to apologize, was there a hiccup in your training? If it had to do with your instructors don't blame yourself at all, it's unfortunately quite a common occurrence.

Thanks guys :D

I also wish I had other dive friends that live locally I can go diving with :(

1 more thing when diving in an ocean is there lots of sharks :(

I live close to Melbourne and love diving so if you need a friend, dive buddy or someone to chat with locally drop me a personal message and I will try and help where I can. I have nothing to push as I don't own any shop, and am not affiliated with any shop, I just enjoy helping people to enjoy this sport safely. I live to dive. Damn just read your latest post, sorry you didn't find it your thing, enjoy life and find your way.

thanks for the positive feedback :)

I just think that I'd fail the test and that even if I did pass it I would go out diving I'm a shy person who suffers from chronic depression and I don't think diving would play a well with that

JakeyFlower, I'm the poster child for social anxiety . . . and I found diving brought me out of my shell in a wonderful way. People are not nearly as scary if you share a passion with them!

I also know a number of people who all agree that they actually medicate their chronic depression with diving. It does something funny to one's central nervous system, and we all feel better after doing it!

obviously it is your decision. Although wouldn't it be better to try instead of assuming a fail? Getting OW certified is an accomplishment that many never realize, and you can always quit diving later if you want to.

Jakey, Dont mind helping you if I can to introduce you to the sport, and to assist in being there and helping you through it. I live in Gippsland and if that's close to you I could be there to assist and help you through the exams etc. The offer is there if you want?
