Maybe we can give the war thing a break for a day or two and maybe debate some thoughts on other headlines pushing through our tv tubes.

Elizibeth Smart::confused:

Is it just me or does something severely stink here with this news story?

First I am glad that this kid was reunited with mom and dad. But after watching so much on tv and hearing so much of this on the news and getting tid bits here and there, I feel that there is something real weird here that hasn't surfaced (something is missing). Anyone else find this whole thing a little weird or am I looking into this too much??

This is what REAL cult behaviour is like. We all have our tongue-in-cheek discussions on this board of the "religion of DIR" but it totally pales when put up against real brainwashing. How frightening it is that people can literally forget who they were before.

Rooster, you are so right...something is definitely missing here though. What's up with bringing her back to her hometown where she is discovered literally walking beneath one of her own "missing" posters.

We all seem to find it really interesting looking at strange stories and the media dives into every aspect of everyone involved lives. Unfortunately, I think that the best thing in this case would be for her parents to get her into a family councelling situation immediately and completely remove themselves from the prying media eyes. We don't need to "know" anymore, we need to pray for the family as they recover. I can't imagine how hard it must be for all involved.

Being the father of 4, I really feel for the parents no matter what the circumstances were. I am glad they found their child and hope things work out.

Didn't the sight of people walking around Salt Lake City making a Taliban fashion statement pique anyone's interest?

No, it's not just you. While I am really glad this story had a happy(?) ending, something about the version I have heard so far just doesn't quite sit right...

Of course, I've been accused of being a pessimist before too (Personally, I think I'm more of a realist, but <shrug> who really cares?).
