OE2X:
BTW - congratulations on not wasting your hard earned $$$ on a bunch of junk that you would later on regret owning.

You said it, although I have not dove my BP/W yet, I am very encouraged by its fit, feel, stability with the tank mounting and the freedom of rigging to suit my needs. If all goes as I hope, my 900.00 orig. bc will have been a waste (don't know if hoping to have wasted 900 bucks was the right wording)

Robert, it's a shame you got grief from the DM for using your BP/wing. He must have been unfamiliar with the setup, so he felt intimidated. It's simplicity is a beautiful thing though....everything has a purpose and the setup is tough as nails. Heck, the crotch strap alone puts it miles ahead of the typical jacket BC.

Also, it seems like it would be easier to put on bp/w, once you master the technique. I wouldn't say it's particularly easy donning a jacket BC setup.

And if you have a more openminded instructor, he might point out the different types of rigs that are out there. Jacket, Back inflate, BP/W, etc. Have fun!

As long as you are not overweighted, it should be fine.

Wich you probably are with 10# of lead in a pool.

If you're concerned about using the BP/wing in the OW class, just call the instuctor in advance and ask them.
