Hi I'm Chris from Lancaster, PA! Just found these forums today and I'm glad I did, lots of great info from what I've seen so far.

I'm currently certified Advanced Open Water. I received my basic OW while living in Boston, MA. Right after I got that, I jetted down to Cancun/Cozumel for a week of diving with my buddy from work.

A few months later I was sent to our office in Hong Kong for half a year and got my Advanced cert. While in HK, I got to spend a month at our office in Sydney, but only got 3 days of diving while there.

After I got back to the States, a few months passed then 9/11 happened. Since the primary business of the company I worked for was educational travel, I was one of the many laid off. I ended up moving from Boston, to Lancaster, PA.

I tried doing a quarry dive here but found I was spoiled by HK and Sydney diving. Ice cold water, low vis and zero marine life just didn't do it for me. I continued working as a computer troubleshooter for a few more years and finally got sick of it.

I've since decided to go pro and I've signed up for the 14 week course at Hall's Diving in Marathon. I'll be driving down in August and hopefully once that course is over find a kickass job.

And that is my novel for today ;)

Well, welcome aboard! You can always come dive here in Sunny (hurricane) Florida.

Marathon is a neat little Key. You'll like living there, while you do your crash course, and of course - do some good diving. Check out our Florida dive club forum.

Not to be a brat, but you've been certifed for roughly 5 years and have less than 50 dives? That averages less than 10 a year. Hall's runs a good instructor development course, I know the instructor trainer there and a few of the graduates. You need to get in the water and start hammering your basic skills now. If you don't you're going to get swept away by the program. I'd try and get at least 20 dives in between RIGHT NOW and the 1st day of the program.

JMHO,

Rachel

Hey WarWolf, welcome to SB. Wicked name too.

I hear ya, unfortunately there are only quarries near me and I'm not a fan. The course I'm signed up for runs through the basic and advanced courses so I'll use those as a refresher. I'm a pretty fast learner and don't forget much once I've learned it.

Considering how much the course is costing me, I don't plan on slacking off or falling behind. :)

Thanks David, I've used this nickname for awhile now. Started back when I started playing video games online. Even got lucky enough to have it used in one game I helped test. I've even had co-workers start calling me by it instead of Chris at times :)
