Hello

Older diver who has not dive for about 25 years renewing my interest in starting back. Whew the equipment changes lol. Getting my feet wet so to speak with a little snorkling and plan to go thru a complete new certification since it has been so many years.

Pleasure to be here, hope to pick up on all the new information and equipment.

I did the same thing and am coming up on about 1 year wet after a 36 yr surface interval. I almost completed a PADI OW course a couple yrs back with my oldest son but ran out of free weekends for the last few ocean dives so did not complete the course. Started with a couple snorkeling trips then a couple pool dives with the "new style" equipment. Then took the plunge. I am looking at logging #20 tomorrow, conditions in So Cal, allowing.
I have found a wealth of information about diving and equipment on here so you are taking a good step.
Happy Diving!

Welcome back. I was away from the sport for a long time myself twice now, and I learned the hard way the importance of doing a refresher, and working on the skills, especially when gear has changed.

My first time away from our sport they created this new fangled thing called a BCD while I was not diving.
While it may have revolutionized the sport in many ways, it darned near killed me when I jumped right in without a refresher.

Thnks guys. Beleive it or not my first requlator was an old US Divers two hose (shows how old I am lol) but I soon upgraded to newer requlators. Yea you are right bc's were not in use back when I began. I did stay in diving for over twenty five years and when I quit I was usuing an early Scubapro back/pack wing set up. Although I only plan to rec dive now I plan to go back with bp/w set up since I am familar with it.

Hey! What happened to beavertail wet suits? LOL There are all gone!

I miss the beaver tail also, I have not tried the step into jackets but I miss my old 2 piece wet suit.

You are in NC? You should look up Herman, an active scubaboard member from your area. He is into restoration and diving vintage double hose regs.
There are several divers in his vintage circle.

Thanks, i will indeed look up Herman. It would be fun to do some vintage diving as everyone calls it now.

Herman and a few others brought, and dived their vintage gear on our Bonaire trip last month.
Raised a few eyebrows! :)
