I am new to scuba and from GA. I am looking to go diving somewhere this Dec, I don't really care where, just to get away for a bit and practice scuba diving.

Welcome Share10,

I am a newbie myself. I live here in Georgia. The only bad part is the water here is getting cold. I am hoping to go to the florida springs soon. If i can get something together I will pm you.

Welcome to the Board, One option is to look locally for the dive shop you certified with, may have a trip planned. If not you can get help here on ScubaBoard. . . Click on the "Forums" at the top of each page, then scroll way down:D , these topics that pop up will cover equipment, training, special interests and more, but go past all of this today and go to "Regional Travel. . ." under this topic, scroll down to "Mexico", and below this "Cozumel". This is just one of hundreds of diving destinations. Read the messages from divers there right now, and those who have just left, or those getting ready to go again.

December in Cozumel, means warm water, great diving for beginners, to advanced divers. Helpful dive operations, friendly people, and close to Christmas and New Years, crowds of divers. Look at the current information, especially, the sticky message at the top of the page. If you're curiosity is excited, Use the search function for dive operators. . . If they have an opening at the time you are traveling, they may have help in finding a room. Package deals can be arranged by the airline, the hotel, or the dive operator. The most enjoyable trip might be put together by the dive operator, because they will be working with you the most on your trip.

Need any more help? Just post your question on the board in the forum for that topic.

I am from South Carolina and there is one really good place for winter diving. "The Hot Hole" in Lake Keowee is in about 40 feet of water near the Oconee Nuclear station and is stays warm from the return flow of the power plant's cooling system. It is 20 acre site with a constant current that eddies around to allow unique drift diving. There is also the "Pumphouse" which is somewhat cooler water that is a 3 story building that sits in about 80 feet of water and rises to 50 feet with the chimneys and is accessible for those experienced and properly equipped, the building usually has several varieties of large fish.

welcome aboard

Try Puerto Aventuras just outside of Playa Del Carman. Go to Aquanauts Dive Shop they are great also if you go to Coz try Blue Angel Dive shop very small but great dives.

Wow, just got back from Cozumel and stayed at CaribeBlu Hotel and dove with Blue Angel Dive Shop that is attached to them. What a great time! Did 3 days of diving and 1 twilight dive. CaribeBlu Hotel is a great hotel for divers, very inexpensive and not an all-inclusive for those of you that are like me and what to eat at the local restaurants in town. The hotel has just been bought buy a Canadian couple and they are working hard to fix it up more. They are building out the dive shop area, the dock and fixing up the grounds. Also they will be enhancing the rooms. My only issue was the street noise since there were older air conditioners in the rooms that were window style units and you could here the traffic through them. They have already started working on that too. They are also soooo nice and all the dive shop staff really take care of you and know you by name.

I will definately be going back!!

Hi Share10

I am a newbie myself.
If you are looking for dive vacation this December, why don't you come to Bali. It has many dive sites and the most variety tropical fish in one place. And the best thing is everything is very cheap here. You can have dive vacation package for as low as US$ 600 for 5 days and 4 nights and stay at the 4 star Hotels with breakfast, lunch, and dinner all together with diving trips and equipment and land or sea transportation.

If you are interested, please PM me or contact me at +62 811 385289. I am Josh.

Regards,

Josh
