Welcome to Scubaboard!
I am a Texas diver, but soon to be a Mid-Atlantic diver. Since you are in Galveston, you may want to look into the Flower Garden Banks in the gulf. I have not been myself, but have heard great things (one of the northermost reefs in the world). If memory serves me correctly, the boats depart Galveston or somewhere in LA.
