Hi,
I´m a 50 yrs old man living in south part of Sweden (Malmö).
I´m new both on this site and as a recreational diver.
Took my open water diver certificate on Bali some weeks ago. I just love it. Specially the dive around the ship wreck in Tulamben.
My next trip will be to Sri Lanka in December at Christmas time. I´ve been in contact with the PADI divecenter Sri Lanka Diving Tours and they seem to be nice and professional. Will be happy if you can give me some recomendations about diving on Sri Lanka for a beginner as me :-)
Thanks in advance!
Jonas

Welcome to Scubaboard Jonas!

I just returned from Sweden where I have a friend called Jonas who lives in Malmo.

Negombo has some nice reef diving. Lots of fish and small critters such as nudibranch. You might even spot some seahorses if you are lucky. There is a nice offshore reef called Third Reef so try to go there if the conditions are good. Sometimes the wind can pick up a lot in the afternoon in December so try to go out diving in the morning. I know the owner of the dive shop you are in contact with. He is a nice guy and knows the local reefs very well. If you really like wrecks you need to dive further south in Colombo, Hikkaduwa or Unawatuna. But Negombo has nice reef diving and its a nice place to hang out. Lots of good seafood and the Rodeo Bar is a great place to grab a drink in the evening!

Enjoy your visit to Sri Lanka. Make sure to see a bit more of the country than the diving.
